The mental health services at BC Children’s Hospital provide psychiatric assessment, short-term individual, family and group treatment, and psychiatric medication review.
We provide a range of highly specialized inpatient, outpatient and telehealth services for children, youth and their families from across BC and the Yukon.
All of our services are available by referral only with the exception of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Emergency Unit.

Children and youth experiencing a mental health emergency are advised to attend the nearest emergency room or call 911. Within the city of Vancouver, children under 17 years of age should attend the emergency room at BC Children's Hospital, and those aged 17 and above should attend the emergency room at Vancouver General Hospital.
